Love it or hate it, we are in the thick of Wedding Season. I’m on Team Wedding and as an events industry professional, I find all the pretty little details to be delightful and I’ve never met a string quartet I didn’t like (fact: I found the string quartet for our wedding on the platform of the A train at 59th Street/Columbus Circle!). Needless to say, I have a deep appreciation for all the time, money, and effort that goes into the Big Day.
We went to our first wedding of the season in Maine just last week and I’ll get to dawn a bridesmaid dress as I watch my best friend marry her fiancé come September. Wedged in the middle of those special events is our first wedding anniversary and it has me thinking about how exciting this time was just a year ago. I couldn’t wait to marry Patrick because, well, we’re awesome together and it was easily the best decision I’ve made in my life to date (and the chances of it being the best decision of my life are looking pretty good).
Patrick and I were married on Saturday, August 6, 2016. I still get great big starry eyes (maybe it’ s more like the heart-eyed cat emoji?) when I think about it because there were so many swoon worthy moments. I’ve shared a few pictures via Facebook and Instagram but I’m always afraid of coming across as that “OMG LOOK AT ME AND MY WEDDING ALL THE TIME” person. However, this is my own blog and you chose to click through so that’s basically permitting me to shove all the pictures in your face, right? If you want to dig deep and fall way too far down the #somerslove nuptials rabbit hole then by all means, take a look at our wedding trailer video. Oh, and if that’s not enough then don’t fret because there will be another wedding post dedicated to all the details like decor and F&B.
How do you feel about weddings? Do you look forward to them or would prefer to exit stage left?
